UK-based Technical Fibre Products Ltd., a manufacturer of advanced nonwoven materials, has made organizational changes at their U.S.-based operations—Technical Fibre Products Inc. and Electro Fiber Technologies LLC. At Technical Fibre Products Inc. (TFP Inc.), John Haaland has been named president. Haaland joined TFP Inc. in 2001 and in his current role as vice president of sales and marketing has held responsibility for the strategic growth and development of sales and business operations in the U.S. He held product and environmental marketing roles at Ashland Chemical and BOC respectively prior to joining TFP and brings extensive commercial and leadership experience to the role following 30 years in sales and marketing and 13 years developing relationships with leading companies in TFP’s core markets of aerospace, defence and advanced composites. Haaland will also serve as president of the U.S. holding company Tech Fibers Inc. At Electro Fiber Technologies LLC, which serves as TFP’s fiber coating facility, Robert Duvall has been appointed president. Duvall has served as the vice president of operations at EFT for the past 12 years where he has been responsible for developing and implementing the manufacturing methods for fiber plating operations. Prior to his association with EFT, Duvall also held positions as the chief technical officer of Composite Materials LLC, a manufacturer of metal-coated fibers, and as director of manufacturing for Thermion Systems International. He brings broad expertise to the role, having over 30 years experience in the field of metal-coated fibers with a particular focus on transferring experimental technologies from the R&D stage into full production. The organizational changes will be effective from April 1, 2014. Both Haaland and Duvall will continue to report to Martin Thompson, chairman of Technical Fibre Products Inc. and Electro Fiber Technologies LLC. Technical Fibre Products is a nonwoven manufacturer that offers a broad range of high quality, technically advanced nonwovens, which can be customized to meet specific application requirements. This range of nonwovens encompasses, amongst others, carbon, aramid, glass, thermoplastic and metal-coated nonwovens, the fibers for the latter being produced in-house at EFT. This diversity of fibre type and associated properties enables TFP’s nonwovens to be used in a wide variety of applications. These include acting as a lightweight adhesive carrier or delivering a high quality surface finish in composites while conferring additional functionality such as EMI shielding, electrical conductivity and abrasion resistance. In addition, TFP’s materials can deliver effective passive fire protection as well as offering solutions for power generation and thermal insulation. TFP have also recently extended their capability to include lamination, enabling TFP to add value through bonding of multi-layer structures, powder addition and compression.
